🌙 Lore & Culture

Welcome to the Library of the Grove. Here lies what Dendronia remembers: the roots of the Fey, the history of the Crow and the Fox, the beliefs of our people, and the stories traded to the Tree.

The Fey (General)

  • Caste Edges: Archfey → Greater Fey → Lesser Fey. The hierarchy is soft, defined less by law and more by memory and presence.

  • Magic Hierarchy:

    • Primal: old, instinctual, often bound to place or creature.

    • Advanced: rites, crafted spells, illusions, glyphs.

    • Formal: culture-level magics (story-binding, foldwork).

  • Cultural Values:

    • Long memory, where past deeds weigh heavily.

    • Stewardship—power exists to shelter, not to hoard.

    • Stories as inheritance.

The Crow & the Fox (History)

From a dare in a royal garden to the founding of Dendronia, their story runs across worlds:

  • Garden Conspiracy: Child alliance of stories and secrets.

  • Split Apprenticeships: Scholar (Crow) and soldier (Fox) walk separate paths but return to each other.

  • The Fall: Their world consumed by folly; they fled through foldwork.

  • The Demiplane & Tree of Stories: They harvested tales, building culture from memory.

  • Betrayals & Sacrifice: Allies lost; the Tree destroyed to save the Crow.

  • Mythodea Arrival: By accident, they broke through into this realm.

  • Dendronia Founded: Not a kingdom, but a haven. Solar and Lunar Thrones set.

Doctrine set forth: Strength shelters. Structure stewards. Every story matters.

Dendronia’s Beliefs

  • Stories as Currency: Deeds and tales fuel the Tree. Each offering strengthens the Grove.

  • Doctrine of the Grove:

    • Strength that Shelters → Solar Throne.

    • Structure that Stewards → Lunar Throne.

  • Mortals as People: Not trinkets, but partners.

Rituals & Practices

  • Chants & Oaths: Shared words to bind the camp before battle, or to mark the night’s story-offering.

  • Story-Offerings: Players may give a tale, object, or poem to the Story Tree—digitally and in-camp.

  • Nightfire Tradition: The communal fire is the stage for tales, confessions, and vows.

(Here, embed downloadable PDFs for chants, oaths, or short ritual scripts.)

The Digital Story Tree

This is a blog-style archive where members can submit IC contributions:

  • Roots: Origins, oaths, ancestral tales.

  • Boughs: Current deeds, wars, camp stories.

  • Leaves: Short poems, songs, fleeting moments.

Each submission = a leaf on the Tree. (Blog categories = branches.)

(Provide a submission form: Title, Author (character), Type (Root/Bough/Leaf), Text.)

Mythodea Lore (Collected)

Here, the Grove keeps knowledge of the land we’ve come to.

  • The Elements: Fire, Water, Earth, Air—how the Fey of Dendronia view them.

  • The Settler Nations: Summaries of their politics, conflicts, alliances.

  • The Dark Foes: Undead, Skargen, Black Dynasty—our perspective on each.

  • Wars of Mythodea: Chronological summaries, annotated with Dendronia’s interpretation.

(Use expandable accordions for each faction/war, so players can skim or dive deep.)

👉 This page should feel like an in-character library, with side-notes and footers reminding people it’s also an OOC knowledge base. The Digital Story Tree is the living part—players feed it before and after events.
